Terms of Use
End-User License Agreement · Effective July 15, 2026 · Version 2026-07-15
1. Agreement and acceptable use
These Terms of Use are an end-user license agreement between you and Withyn. By creating or using an account, you agree to these Terms and to use Withyn only for lawful, private, and respectful communication with people who intentionally connect with you. If you do not agree, do not create an account or use Withyn.
2. Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abuse
Withyn has no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. You may not create, send, request, promote, or threaten content or conduct that is illegal, harmful, exploitative, or abusive, including:
- Harassment, bullying, stalking, threats, intimidation, or targeted abuse.
- Hate speech or attacks based on protected characteristics.
- Sexual exploitation, non-consensual intimate content, or any sexual content involving minors.
- Graphic violence, instructions for serious harm, terrorism, or criminal exploitation.
- Spam, scams, impersonation, malicious files, or attempts to compromise another person or device.
3. On-device media filtering
When Apple's Sensitive Content Warning policy is enabled for Withyn, decrypted images and videos are analyzed on your device with Apple's Sensitive Content Analysis before they are shown. Media identified as potentially containing nudity is blurred behind a warning until you choose to view it. The analysis result is not sent to Withyn. No automated filter is perfect; use Report for any objectionable content or conduct that reaches you.
4. Reporting objectionable content or users
You can report a message, image, video, other content, or an abusive user from the relevant in-app menu. A report includes limited account, connection, and content identifiers together with your selected reason so that Withyn can review and enforce its safety rules. It does not send the decrypted body of your private message or media.
5. Blocking abusive users
You can block an abusive contact at any time. Blocking immediately removes that connection and its content from your in-app experience, prevents further direct interaction through that connection, and sends a safety notification to Withyn for review.
6. Review and enforcement within 24 hours
Withyn reviews reports of objectionable content and abusive users and acts within 24 hours. When a report establishes a violation, Withyn removes the offending content from surfaces under its control and suspends or ejects the user who provided it.
Withyn may preserve limited report and enforcement records when reasonably necessary to prevent repeat abuse, protect users, comply with law, or defend the service.
7. Private and encrypted communication
Withyn is designed for private, encrypted communication and cannot routinely read private conversations. User-initiated reports send limited safety metadata rather than decrypted private content. Withyn can still remove stored encrypted content, disconnect users, and enforce account restrictions based on reports and the information available to it.
8. Your account and service access
Keep access to your Apple account and device secure. You are responsible for activity performed through your account. Withyn may restrict or terminate access for violations of these Terms, safety risks, fraud, legal requirements, or conduct that threatens the service or its users.
The service may change, be interrupted, or be discontinued. To the extent permitted by law, Withyn is provided as available without a guarantee that every feature will always be uninterrupted or error-free.
9. Changes to these Terms
If these Terms materially change, Withyn will publish a new version and require you to accept it before continuing to use the app.
